Body…
Notes from the future : This is pretty much what I still run, the car has a fibreglass bonnet, front valences, hardtop and boot lid but the rest is still all steel (with most of the inside panels etc. cut out to save weight).
Right, the car currently looks something like…
…this.
Generally speaking the body work is fine. However, significant weight savings can be made here. I’m planning to replace the entire bonnet assembly with a fibreglass one, likewise the boot lid.
I could go so far as doors and rear wings, but I can’t really be bothered at this point in time. My priority now is to get the bloody thing finished and on the track.
I’m thinking of leaving the hard top on as well, if it turns out too heavy and it’s a nice day it unbolts fairly quickly.
I won’t be making any other major modifications to the body (save painting it wedgewood blue), but I will be removing all of the trim and those lovely chrome bumpers. Again to save weight.
