A week to go…
A week, give or take the odd day, until our 2005 debut.
Today was given over to work on the Land Rover on that basis that it’s all very well having a potentially class winning race car, but not much use if you can’t get it to the race.
Old Landy seems more or less ok but it appears that it’s exhaust has fallen off in sympathy with the Rover workers. Fortunately it’s broken in a ‘good place’ i.e. after the silencer box, but I doubt it will stay that way happily for long. A trip to Kwik Fit is in order, I think (hope they have the right bits).
The racecar has had a big service and a bit of a tidy up over the last couple of weeks, I’ve also taken the passenger seat out and refitted the fire extinguisher. The only minor calamity was that I discovered some play in the steering rack and, while just about acceptable, decided to change the whole unit. Thankfully, I had a perfect condition one in storage, so it wasn’t too much of a concern. I also fitted some fancy new drop links to the front anti-roll bar (available from Wolfitt Racing, time will tell if they actually do anything useful but they look nice 🙂
Tomorrow I hope to get the few remaining items on my checklist ticked off in preparation for a relaxed and enjoyable May Day bank holiday blasting round Combe…
